About Us

The Abud Family Foundation for the Arts is a non profit foundation established in 2002.

The purpose of the foundation is to:

  • Promote Ibero-American Art in various forms by providing scholarships to Artists with Ibero-American ties.
  • Provide a venue and opportunity for artists residing locally to exhibit their art.
  • Provide education opportunities to local schools by inviting students to gallery exhibitions.
  • Invite area Art Teachers to use the gallery as a teaching tool with their students by planning and displaying students art work and involving the students in the process.

Dr. Abud, born in Nicaragua, was introduced to Mexican art during his years as a medical student in Mexico City. He and his wife Janice have lived in the Lambertville area of New Jersey, where he practices Neurosurgery, since the early 1970’s.

It has been a dream of theirs to promote art and by establishing a foundation they are able to provide scholarships to bring the work of Ibero-American as well as local artists to their gallery in New Jersey.

Since its inception in 2002, the Foundation has provided 3-5 scholarships per year to artists from Madrid Spain, Mexico City, Lima Peru, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua and several artists from the local tri-state area.

In June 2008 and again in 2009 the Foundation invited students and their art teachers from Lawrence High School to use the gallery for their own art exhibit with an opening reception for friends and family. Various art objects were on display for two weeks.
